How to Choose Captain & Vice-Captain
C = 2× points · VC = 1.5× points — the highest-leverage decision in fantasy cricket.
Updated: 10 Aug 2026 · Strategy guide
On RS9, your Captain multiplies points by 2 and Vice-Captain by 1.5. A good C/VC pair often separates top ranks from average teams — even when the rest of the XI is similar.
Best Captain profiles
- In-form openers — more balls faced, multiple ways to score.
- Frontline all-rounders — bat + bowl + field contribution.
- Strike bowlers — new-ball or death overs with wicket upside.
Avoid captaining pure “hope” players with low recent minutes or uncertain XI status.
Vice-Captain selection
VC should be your second-highest conviction pick from a different role when possible (e.g. batter C + bowler VC). That hedges match scenarios like one-sided chases.
Match-up filters
- Batter vs weak bowling attack
- Pacer on a green pitch / swing-friendly venue
- Spinner on dry/slow tracks
- Confirmed playing XI over big names on the bench
Common C/VC mistakes
- Always captaining the most expensive player
- Ignoring toss and weather
- Stacking C & VC from a side batting second in a rain-risk game without plan B
- Changing C/VC after deadline anxiety with no data
