Fantasy Cricket Tips for Beginners in India

Build smarter teams, use credits wisely and climb free contest leaderboards on RS9.

Fantasy cricket is one of India’s most popular skill games. On RS9 you can play for free: pick 11 players, choose Captain & Vice-Captain, join contests and earn points from real-match performance.

These beginner tips help you avoid common mistakes and improve consistency.

1. Start with free contests

If you are new, join free contests first. You learn scoring, deadlines and team structure without pressure. RS9 is built around free-to-play fantasy cricket for every match day.

2. Balance your fantasy XI

  • Follow role limits (batters, bowlers, all-rounders, wicket-keeper).
  • Don’t overload one team unless the pitch/match-up strongly favours them.
  • Keep 1–2 differential picks once you understand the meta.

3. Spend credits on impact players

Credits are limited. Prioritise players who can contribute with bat and ball (all-rounders), plus openers and strike bowlers who bowl at the death or with the new ball.

4. Captain & Vice-Captain decide ranks

Captain gets points and Vice-Captain 1.5×. Choose C/VC from players with high floor + ceiling: consistent openers, frontline pacers, or all-rounders in good form. Read our full guide: How to choose Captain & Vice-Captain.

5. Check form, venue and toss trends

  • Last 5 matches form beats reputation alone.
  • Some venues favour pace or spin — adjust accordingly.
  • Playing XIs matter more than squad names; wait for line-ups when possible.

6. Play multiple small leagues

Mega contests are fun, but small leagues and head-to-head are often more skill-rewarding for beginners. Diversify across a few free contests instead of one single entry.

Quick checklist before you join

  • Team complete with C & VC
  • Within credit limit
  • Contest deadline not passed
  • You are 18+ and playing responsibly
